The Russian Musical Society commissioned an orchestral piece from Tchaikovsky for a concert in aid of the Red Cross Society due to the war going on in the Balkan area. That’s how the Marche Slave arose and was premiered in Moscow on November 17, 1876 conducted by Nikolai Rubinstein.
If you would like to have a peaceful and pleasant stay while exploring the western Balkan area, we recommend one of our favorites, the six bed Mache Slave Room.
It has its own balcony and is equipped with three bunk beds. Like every other room in the hostel each bed has its own night light, shelves, electric socket and an own curtain which ensures more privacy for each guest. Individual lockers are provided in the room without charge. Common bathroom facilities are accessible through the corridor.
